Face-to-face communication

Nowadays people are used to making use of technology tools to communicate to other people because it's faster and easier than talking face-to-face; nevertheless we believe in real communication. As in a near future this type of communication could have some negative consequences.

First of all, we believe that if technology tools were more controlled, people wouldn't be liars, they would say always the truth. In addition, people feel better because they think that they are protected by the screen, but they aren't. For that reason people insult and bully others.

Secondly, we reckon that talking face-to-face is comfortable and it transmits security; moreover you can always be yourself and eventually it's more complicated to be confused talking face-to-face than talking via internet of using technologic tools.

In short, we think that talking face-to-face is better than other types of communication like Whatsapp of Facebook.

Animals

At the moment, it is legal to use animals for medical research, although there are arguments both for and against this practice.

One of the arguments for using animals for medical research is that scientists can test new drugs or vaccines before using them with humans. In addition, lots of laboratoires do many experiments with animals, so the medical science can develop.

On the other hand, there is a moral problem because nowadays thousands of animals die every second due to medical research. And it's very exaggerated.

To sum up, I am for and against using animals for medical research. I believe that if it continues, scientists may discover a lot of treatments for most illnesses that exist; nevertheless, we are going to kill millions of animals every second.

Help!

Dear Joana,

I'm writing because I've got a problem, I don't know what to do.

Three months ago, Quim introduced me his friend Jack. My first impression was that he was a nice man, and he had a good character, he was a real gentleman, I thought that we had a lot in common.

Firstly, he asked me to go out, but only as friends. We went to a restaurant, a bar... Then, I started to feel that we were more than friends. There our relationship started.

Now, two months  later, my feelings for him don't exist, I know that he's a good and romantic guy, but I think it's better to split up with him. I don't get on well with him.

I need advice, help me please. What do you think I should do?

Your best friend, Alba

A story about my grandfather

My grandfather was eighteen years old, when the Second World War started. At at time it was prohibited to walk outside at night. The German soldiers were watching the city of Marseilles.

One evening my grandfather was staying at some friends' house. The group of young men decided to go for a walk. There, they made a silly thing, they broke a light pole. At the same moment, a group of German soldiers turned up and saw them. The boys started running but my grandfather remained in the street, paralyzed by fear. A young German soldier posted his machine gun at him thinking he was a French terrorist. My grandfather was really scared. But at the same time he realized that the young German boy was the same age, and was also scared. After a few minutes of silence and fear, the soldier decided to let him go.

My grandfather always told me that story, about that moment, a moment between life and death.
